Sloan School of Management

Sloan School of Management は、MIT の5 番目の学部として1952年に発足しました。世界一の理工系大学の中にあるビジネススクールらしく、経営と技術の融合を目指したカリキュラムに特徴があります。

ミッション

Sloan は、以下のミッションを掲げています。

The mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world and to generate ideas that advance management practice.

それを実現するための手段として謳っているのが以下の5項目です。

Offer premier programs for shaping leaders who will create, redefine, and build cutting-edge products, services, markets, and organizations
Collaborate across MIT to capitalize on and contribute to the Institute’s distinctive intellectual excellence and entrepreneurial culture
Attract, develop, and retain outstanding faculty and staff who lead the world in management education and research

プログラム

2018年現在、Sloan School には以下の12種類のプログラムがあります。

プログラム名	説明
MBA	経営学修士号（Master of Business Administration）を目指す2年間の修士プログラム。本Webサイトは、このプログラムに関する情報提供を主目的として開設されました。
MIT Sloan Fellows Program in Innovation and Global Leadership (Sloan Fellows)	勤続10年以上の管理者向けの Executive MBA プログラムです。MBAコースと同じビジネス系の科目に加えて、リーダーシップとイノベーションに関するコースにも重点を置いた一年制プログラムです。日本語による説明はこちらをご覧ください。
Leaders for Global Operations (LGO)	工学部と Sloan School が共同運営する、二年制のDual Degree (MBA と Master of Science in Engineering) プログラムです。ManufacturingとOperation に主眼を置いています。
System Design & Management(SDM)	LGOと同じく、工学部と Sloan School が共同運営するプログラムです。製品開発上発生する技術的な問題の解決にフォーカスしています。
Master of Finance(MFin)	Financeに特化した1年制のプログラムです。
Master of Business Analytics(MBAn)	今流行りのBusiness AnalyticとData Scienceに特化した1年制のプログラムです。
PhD	博士課程（5年間）です。
Undergraduate	学部課程（4年間）です。
Master of Science in Management Studies(MSMS)	更にマネジメントスキルを磨きたいMBA取得者向けの9か月プログラムです。
EMBA, EXEC ED, Visiting Fellows	その他のExecutive レベル向けプログラムです。

歴史

年号	概要
1914	Department of Economics and Statistics の一コースとして発足
1925	Masters of Management Program （現在のMBA Program）設立
1930	Department of Business and Engineering Administration として独立
1931	大学による世界初の Executive Education プログラムである “Sloan Fellows” が、当時のGM会長 Alfred P. Sloan によって設立
1952	Sloan Foundationが出資し、 MIT School of Industrial Management となる
1959	Ph. D. Program in Managementを設置
1962	初めてコンピュータ（IBM 1620）を導入
1964	現在の Alfred P. Sloan School of Management という名称になる
1970	Fischer Black と Myron Scholes が Black-Scholes formula を提唱
1977	Stewart Myers 教授がCorporate Financeの分野を開拓
1988	Leaders for Manufacturing Program 立ち上げ
1990	MIT Entrepreneurship Center が発足
1990	MIT $10K Entrepreneurship Competition 誕生（1996年にMIT $50K Competition となる）
2002	創立50周年記念式典開催
